Builder / engineering leader

Technology should earn its place in people's lives.

I build useful products across AI, voice, privacy, and connected devices. Then I build the teams that can carry them.

01 / The thread

I keep coming back to emerging technology that has to work for real people, especially where usefulness, usability and trust matter. A voice computer before Alexa. Private AI designed to widen access to mental wellness support. An app that keeps abandoned smart-home hardware alive.

02 / Selected work

Built for the real world.

Four products. Four different constraints. The same bias toward useful, durable systems.

03 / Leadership at scale

The product, the people, and how the work gets done.

I have led long enough to know that what gets built depends on how people work together.

Now

Sr. Director of Engineering at Alarm.com

Leading engineering for AI Concierge, Alarm.com's natural-language layer across its residential and commercial platform: web, voice, text messaging, and the panel itself.

One conversational system serves all four consistently, whether a customer types, speaks, or texts. The work covers home security and automation, multi-site access control, and user management.

  1. 2022 - 2023Meta

Led teams unifying Facebook Pages and Groups and directed privacy settings work.

  2. 2013 - 2021Genesys

Led global engineering groups across conversational AI and cloud products.

  3. 2005 - 2013Angel.com

Built inbound voice and outbound calling systems that reached 99.999% availability. Established and led Angel.com's offshore technology center in China.

What I ask of a team

  • 01Make the problem visible.
  • 02Give people real ownership.
  • 03Ship work you are proud to own.
  • 04Leave room for curiosity.

04 / Patents

Ideas that made it into the machinery.

Work across personalized AI, voice interfaces, and large-scale telephony.

05 / About

A builder who learned to lead without stepping away from the work.

Startups taught me to build from zero. Larger organizations taught me to build through others and at scale. Each changed how I approached the next. I have written the code, owned the roadmap, hired the team, carried the pager, and sat with users when the first version missed the mark.

The job, as I see it, is to make hard technology understandable and useful. It is also to create a place where people can be themselves, challenge each other thoughtfully, grow, and do the best work of their careers.
